Reporting to the Director of Food Quality Assurance, the successful candidate will support the R&D team across a range of responsibilities:

  • Provide cross-functional support to commercial, marketing, packaging, design, and customer teams.
  • Manage technical/customer queries and supervise the completion of product questionnaires with factories and contract packers.
  • Submit finalized documentation and ensure accurate artwork translation.
  • Review labels and packaging for regulatory compliance (e.g. allergens, claims, nutrition, weights, mandatory information).
  • Ensure adherence to EU/UK legislation throughout product development.
  • Conduct FIC compliance checks and advise on authorized formulations and claims.
  • Assess and validate packaging materials in line with EU and UK harmonized regulations.
  • Provide guidance on plastics, recycled materials, bisphenol A, epoxy derivatives, and intelligent packaging.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and manage technical documentation proactively.
  • Conduct HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, and GMP audits at internal and external sites.
  • Perform food safety risk assessments and produce detailed reports.
  • Maintain product specifications and certificates in line with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Archive audit reports, organize sample shipments, request external analysis, and prepare QA documentation.
  • Lead production sample evaluations and competitor benchmarking.
  • Organize sensory panels (NPD) and draft formal evaluation reports.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance of NPD prototypes and support their refinement.
  • Maintain supplier QA folders, certification databases, and approved vendor lists.
  • Review and summarize external QA documentation through technical desk studies.
  • Plan and conduct food safety audits of contract manufacturers.
  • Execute GAP analysis, horizon scanning, and risk assessments.
  • Support factory QC teams on HACCP plans and GMP procedures.
  • Maintain packaging information database (PIF for each SKU).
  • Contribute to organic certifications for fresh and processed food categories.
  • Oversee complaints, mock recalls, and document control.
  • Compile weekly quality reports and mentor junior QA staff

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Food Engineering or Food Science.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of QA experience in the food industry, particularly in canning and aseptic processing.
  • Strong knowledge of EU/UK food regulations and practical business implications.
  • Expertise in labelling compliance under FIC Regulation, including nutrition and health claims.
  • Experience in converting international labels (MENA/US to EU/UK formats).
  • IRCA-certified Food Safety Auditor (ISO 22003/17021).
  • Skilled in HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, GMP, PRP, GAP analysis, and strategic regulatory monitoring.
  • Conducts GFSI-standard audits (BRC, IFS, FSSC22000), internal and external.
  • Expertise in FCM regulations, plastics legislation, and post-Brexit compliance.
  • Knowledge of CSRD, EPR, and sustainability/social responsibility systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in SOP implementation, QA process management, and vendor oversight.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for audits and technical support
